Big 3 Advantages of Being a Financial Advisor

“I’m continually trying to make choices that put me against my own comfort zone. As long as you’re uncomfortable, it means you’re growing.”

-Ashton Kutcher, Hollywood Actor

It’s the rise of Financial Advisory in the country right now. As what business experts would say, the Philippines is a gold mine for the insurance industry! It’s now famous but a few would like to do this for a living. Why? Like what we’ve seen in X-Men, fear of the unknown.

We are afraid to come out of our comfort zones. We get attached to what we already know. Bill Gates calls it “a lousy teacher.” What we know becomes a lousy teacher when we stop innovating and reinventing ourselves. We stick to the old ones that we keep on doing successfully and give it a few years then afterwards experienced failure because what we used to do suddenly isn’t working anymore. Why is it not working anymore? You gotta remember that all strategies are like canned goods – they have an expiration date. And technology travels at the speed of light. You don’t notice you are about to be fired from that company you are so comfortable with.

“One element of Madonna’s career that really takes center stage is how many time’s she’s reinvented herself. It’s easier to stay in one look, one comfort zone, one musical style. It’s inspiring to see someone whose only predictable quality is being unpredictable.”

-Taylor Swift

My first memory of a presentation or shall we say a report in front of the class was during my 5th Grade in Science Class. My knees were shaking, voice shaking and my hands cannot even point directly to the subject. I stood in front of the Manila Paper (up until now I’m still wondering why is it called Manila Paper) and read the contents all the way without facing my classmates. I was so nervous and I felt so awkward. It was a shame but I knew that awkward won’t kill me. My only consolation is that the day ended and I’m still alive. I was proud of myself at that time because I made it but I prayed it wouldn’t happen again.

Unfortunately, I have to pass high school and reports were as often as eating snacks in the canteen. I needed to find a strategy that will help me build my confidence. It was uncomfortable but I think it worked for me because right now I do deliver talks in our community, I have been the lead role in a stage play for multiple times and I am working now as a financial advisor where I have to talk to my clients daily. I am still awkward up until now but I know deep in my heart that awkward won’t kill me.

So I’m sharing to you the great advantages of becoming a financial advisor and why is it worth the risk. It may be uncomfortable but it sure is rewarding!

  1. Time Freedom

Are you tired with what you do for a living?

Do you feel like the only motivating factor why you’re in that company is your salary?

You wanted to do what you are passionate about but you can’t because you are trapped with those crazy overtimes and weekend work. And it feels so dragging that you wanted go North but your body is going South.

Let’s pause for a moment and think of what you really wanna do. What’s the core gift that you have?

The world is waiting for your core gift. You are a specialty. You are unique but you keep working on a box that you call cube or keep facing that box that you call monitor that keeps you away from your real purpose.

Live outside the box and be present in the circle of life we call world. The Creator is really witty, he shaped the world in a round about shape and not in a box like your cubicle so you will understand the message behind.

Tony Robbins, The Money Master, said, “Never trade your time for money.” Financial advisory will still consume your time but This Time! It’s with a purpose, with a reason and with a mission. Financial advisory won’t put you in a box where in you will feel like a slave. In this business you own your time. You get to choose a strategy when is the best time for you to work and when is the best time for you spend some love with your family and friends which is basically one of the purposes of life.

  1. Travel Perks

Hong Kong, Orlando where you can see Disney Land; London, Vancouver and so many others. Given the right market and all things will be possible if you believe. This is the only work where you get to travel outside the country not because of work purposes but for leisure. You get it for free after a million dollar worth of focus and performance.

This is much more fun if you travel with your family. And this industry can make that possible, you can go to places with memories shared not only in pictures but live with your family holding your hands.

  1. Sense of Purpose

Let’s admit it. We all need money. Zig Ziglar made a humor that money isn’t the most important, it’s just there next to oxygen. But what I mean is that People need money, not just you. But the greater purpose and mission of financial advisors are sharing to people the secret hidden from people’s eyes on how to save money and protecting them from the unknown perils of life.

This industry saves the lives of those individuals who are breadwinners of the family and whose souls are consumed by the consumeristic market. We have this culture of buying things we do not need just to impress our neighborhood and office mates and so Financial Advisors are there as eye-openers of this “culture of death.”

This is an honorable job. There’s a sense of fulfillment in every life that we save. Beyond the joy of the salary, time freedom and travel perks is the joy of seeing your clients living a life of peace because you did a good job in telling them the wonders of financial advice.

“I want to challenge you today to get out of your comfort zone. You have so much incredible potential on the inside. God has put gifts and talents in you that you probably don’t know anything about.” -Joel Osteen, Best-Selling Author, Preacher
